AMD released a net loss of 1.189 billion U.S. dollars on second-quarter earnings report

July 18, according to foreign media reports, AMD Thursday released a 2008 second-quarter earnings report, with the postponing of new products as well as the economic recession which led to the slower growth of consuming, AMD appeared seventh consecutive quarter of losses.

Ending June 28 for the second quarter, AMD's net loss of 1.189 billion U.S. dollars, a loss of 1.96 U.S. dollars. The results were below the same period last year, the second quarter of 2007, AMD's net loss of 600 million U.S. dollars. AMD second-quarter operating loss of 269 million U.S. dollars, for the same period last year operating loss of 143 million U.S. dollars. AMD second-quarter revenue of 1.349 billion U.S. dollars, down from last quarter's 1.456 billion U.S. dollars. Excluding special items, AMD second-quarter adjusted loss per share of 0.44 U.S. dollars, exceeding the expected market analysis. Thomson Financial survey, analysts had expected AMD second-quarter adjusted loss of 0.52 U.S. dollars per share, on revenue of 1.45 billion U.S. dollars.

2008 second quarter, AMD computing solutions group revenue for 1.101 billion U.S. dollars, a year earlier to 1.098 billion U.S. dollars; operating loss of 900 million dollars for the same period last year operating loss of 269 million U.S. dollars. AMD graphics revenue for the 248 million U.S. dollars, a year earlier to 211 million U.S. dollars; operating loss of 38 million U.S. dollars, for the same period last year operating loss of 39 million U.S. dollars.

2008 second quarter, amd the gross profit margin was 52 percent, higher than last quarter's 41 percent, higher than the 34 percent the same period last year. amd the quarter gross margin rose, mainly due to seasonal factors.

On Thursday AMD shares cost 5.30 U.S. dollars in the New York Stock Exchange, adding 0.24 U.S. dollars, or up 4.74 percent. In after-hours trading, AMD shares fell 38 cents, or 7.17 percent, to close at 4.92 U.S. dollars. In the past 52 weeks, AMD shares a minimum of 4.53 U.S. dollars, up to 16.19 U.S. dollars
